Frequently asked questions

Answers about entering competitions, payments, winner draws and running competitions on Competris.

Entrants

Entering competitions

Do I need a Competris account to enter?

Public competitions can accept guest entries. Creating an account makes it easier to keep your Competris activity together and gives you access to My Entries.

How do I know my entry is confirmed?

A confirmed entry receives a unique ticket ID. Free entries are confirmed immediately after successful submission. Paid entries are confirmed after Stripe reports that the organiser has received the payment.

Can I enter more than once?

That depends on the competition settings. The organiser can allow or restrict multiple entries and can set an entry limit per person.

Can I enter by post?

Where an organiser offers a postal entry route, the required postal details and conditions should be set out in that competition's terms. Postal entries are recorded by the organiser before the draw.

How are winners selected?

Competris selects eligible entries using secure random selection. The organiser reviews the prepared result and confirms the winners. Confirmed public results can then appear on the competition and Winners pages.

What happens if a competition does not sell out?

Unless the organiser's published terms say otherwise, entry closes at the configured closing time and the draw uses the eligible entries received. Always read the individual competition terms before entering.

Who provides the prize?

The competition organiser is responsible for the advertised prize, winner contact and prize fulfilment. Competris provides the software used to manage the competition.

Payments

Entry payments & refunds

Who takes my entry payment?

The competition organiser. Paid entries are processed by Stripe directly on the organiser's connected Stripe account. Competris does not receive, hold or settle entrant money.

Does Competris store my card details?

No. Entry card details are entered into Stripe's payment flow for the organiser. Competris records payment references needed to confirm the competition entry, not your full card number or CVC.

Who do I contact about an entry payment or refund?

Contact the competition organiser first because the payment was made to them. Their details are shown on the competition page. If you believe there is a serious problem, you can report the organiser to Competris for review.

Does Competris charge entrants a platform fee?

Competris does not add its organiser subscription or commission charge to the entrant's competition payment. Competris charges organisers separately under their plan.

Running competitions

Can the same account enter and run competitions?

Yes. Every normal Competris account can enter competitions. Organiser access is an additional capability activated on the same login.

Why do I register a card with Competris?

Your registered card is used for Competris's own charges, including paid subscriptions and applicable end-of-competition commission. It is separate from the Stripe account used to receive entrant payments.

Why do I need Stripe Connect?

You only need a connected Stripe account if you want to take paid online competition entries. Free competitions do not need Stripe Connect.

When is Competris commission charged?

For a paid competition on a plan with commission, the agreed rate is locked to that competition. When the competition ends, Competris calculates the commissionable paid-entry revenue, creates one commission invoice and attempts payment from the organiser's registered card.

Are refunded entries included in commission?

Refunds recorded from the organiser's connected Stripe account before commission is finalised reduce the commissionable revenue.

Does Competris make my competition legally compliant?

Competris provides competition-management tools, but the organiser remains responsible for the structure, rules, advertising, entry route and legal compliance of each competition they publish.

Can I use QR codes at an event?

Yes. Each competition has a public entry URL that can be shared as a QR code for mobile entry at exhibitions, trade shows and other events.
